Whether you’re on a budget, or interested in cultivating a more minimalist lifestyle that reduces consumerism, my new video “5 Frugal, Budget Beauty Tips” highlights ways you can:
- Save money on green beauty (AKA non-toxic cosmetics) when you’re on a budget.
- Maximize and extend the life of your makeup and skincare.
- Limit your overall consumption and waste.
- Look beautiful on a budget
When you become a more budget-minded beauty consumer, you’ll be saving money and helping conserve the earth’s resources. Double win!
If you’re over 40, I think you’ll especially appreciate tip #5, which is my favorite. (I know I shouldn’t have favorites, but I do!)

Since I always get asked for the product names I feature in videos, I’ve listed them below with links to buy them in the U.S./Canada for your convenience.*
Frugal vs. Cheap
My suggestions aren’t about buying cheap cosmetics. Not all of the items featured are low-price, but they are high-quality products at various price points from green beauty brands I trust.
If used in the ways I describe in the video, you’ll get better results and savings than buying less effective, cheaper products overall.

Beware
I mentioned a few cautionaries toward the end of the video about being careful and safe mixing your products and trying to create your own.
Rachael Pontillo is who I trust to give you the right guidance about making your own skincare.
She’s contributed some great articles to my site about DIY skincare that you can read here.

I am in the process of removing more toxic makeup from my collection. Best place to start? Many good drugstores and two Sephora’s in my town so it will be gradual. Thanks. Laurie
