4 Awesome Canadian Organic and Natural Skincare Brands That Will Rock Your World

By June 17, 2015April 25th, 201830 Comments

It’s time to turn the spotlight on some of the very best Canadian organic and natural skincare brands.

You’ve probably never heard of these because they aren’t driven by deep pockets with global marketing campaigns, but make no mistake these small, independent brands are doing it right!

A Few of the Best Canadian Organic and Natural Skincare Brands

I’ve been on a journey discovering locally made products, all over Canada, from Vancouver to Toronto to Montreal, and connecting with the passionate female entrepreneurs behind them.

These indie beauty brands from Canada focus on creating luxurious, sustainable, effective, and most importantly healthy products, which restore luster to skin without the added harmful chemicals.

I’m so excited to share them with you and I have a feeling these results-driven, Canadian organic and natural skin care brands listed below will soon become your new favorites too!

Helena Lane Skincare

Helena Lane’s skin care line is simple and elegant. Handcrafted in small batches near Vancouver, BC by Helena Lane herself, each product contains only unrefined, unprocessed, and certified organic ingredients.

Helena uses as few ingredients as possible. There are no extras, just nutrient-rich essentials to help your skin look its very best—balanced and healthy. This is minimalist skin care at its peak!

ArganFrankSerum

If you have to choose just one product, go for the Argan + Frankincense Serum. It is one of my go-to’s for healthy summer skin. This serum is intensely hydrating, easily absorbed, and great for all skin types. It just won best Face Care product of the Clean Beauty Awards.

Belmondo Organic Skin Care

Hailing from the West Coast, Belmondo was created by Vancouver-based esthetician Daniela Belmondo. Growing up, Daniela’s mother used olive oil in her skin care routine. Appreciating this ancient Italian wisdom, Daniela created her own skin care line around the healing properties of olive oil.

Each Belmondo product is made with a signature blend of olive oil infused with organic calendula, chamomile flower, lavender, and rosehip—chosen for their potent healing and nourishing properties. Belmondo is luxurious clean beauty done right. The scents are heavenly, the cream velvety, and the ingredients pure.

Plus, the packaging design makes it almost impossible not to leave out on the vanity.

TheBalm

When choosing what to try, don’t gloss over The Balm. This might be the most unique lip product I’ve ever come across. It looks like a regular lip balm, but as you apply it, it glides on silky and adds shine to lips, like a gloss.

Graydon Clinical Luxury By Nature

Forget about farm to table, Graydon Clinical Luxury is farm to face skin care! Using plant-based ingredients sourced from Canadian growers, this skin care line was created to be as effective and luxurious as any mainstream brand, minus the yucky harmful ingredients.

Made in a lab in small batches, ingredients are chosen for their bioactive qualities that help maintain and restore the skin’s natural luster. Dubbed an ingredient anthropologist, Graydon herself is a wiz in the kitchen, former yoga instructor, and farmer’s market foraging pro. This background inspired her to focus on potent ingredients that are mostly food-derived.

Green Cream

The Green Cream is your must try product. It is light, yet intensely nourishing. The cream’s light green hue comes from nutrients like chlorophyll and broccoli seed oil, powerful antioxidants and detoxifiers. It’s like green juice, but for your face. This cream is a basic staple that is suitable for all skin types, from sensitive to mature and everything in between.

Jordan River Soapworks

Jordan River Soapworks products are inspired by a cool, clean West Coast vibe. Think detoxifying seaweed, hand harvested sea salt, and purifying glacial marine clay. Handcrafted on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, these products are a blend of artisanal purity and understated elegance.

Jordan River Soapworks specializes in soaps, bath soaks, and body butters made without artificial colors, fragrances, or preservatives. The majority of the ingredients are locally sourced and organic whenever possible.

JRSoapworks_SeaSaltSeaweedSoap

The artisanal soaps are a must try. The scents are subtle, and gentle enough to use to wash your face. The sea salt + seaweed artisanal soap is definitely a favorite, and oh so West Coast!

Hello, I am still looking for the best Organic Skin Care that women over sixty five years old need to know about. There’s so many and it’s over whelming, and I am desperate for the best one for me. Please, give me a few brands that I can try asap. My skin is normal to dry, some wrinkles, and some hyperpigmentation.

Has anyone tried products from Green Beaver in Hawkesbury, Ontario? I’m curious about their quality, especially their fluoride-free toothpastes.

  • Pura Skincare from Edmonton Alberta – it’s amazing! I’ve slowly switched over all my skincare to their line because I love how gentle it is on my sensitive skin.

I love your reviews and all the useful and informative info on Canadian green, clean beauty products! I have always been passionate about using natural products on my body and in my home, and even more so now as a new mom. I love knowing what’s in my products is safe, local , gentle and effective on my skin, and also knowing my baby girl can grow up without the toxic overload in many bath & beauty products.
This inspiration has also led to the creation of my line of naturally luxurious bath salts, handcrafted with local ingredients on Vancouver Island. They contain local sustainably hand-harvested wild seaweed, locally grown kale, lavender & rosemary and are equal parts relaxing, therapeutic, and decadent. They have only been tested on myself, friends and family and I want people to know they are soaking in only the good things from nature, with no nasty chemicals.
Natural beauty products help us slow down and give us a chance to connect with the healing plants, flowers, minerals and marine botanicals of the earth. They can remind us to make a ritual out of everyday routine, and that simple acts of self-love and care, like taking a hot botanical mineral bath, can be good for our bodies, minds, souls, and the earth. Being a new mom has reminded me that everything is connected and the more we love ourselves, the more we have to give to our families, our communities and our earth.

Hi Nikki! So normally I don’t allow people to post links to their company, but I checked yours out and love how much heart and soul you put into it and describing it here! I’ve been taking salt baths every night this week to rejuvenate after long work days, so I’m a huge fan of this as a part of being well. Shoot me an email if you want to chat privately.

      • Nikki Pichert says:

Hi Green Beauty Team! I just looked back here and am so excited you posted our info and to hear you are indulging in some self-loving salt soaks to rejuvenate after long work days. • Samantha says:

Pure+simple! They’re from Toronto and actually carry some Graydon products, haha. 🙂 They offer services too but even just their product line on its own is awesome. Definitely worth checking out – they have their own stuff but also carry outside lines (obviously, if they have Graydon) and they’re able to customize their facials with any of the products they sell, which is nice because it makes every facial unique and gives you a chance to try everything before buying (plus they give free samples!).

I’m so happy to see your interest in Canadian natural skin care products. In late 2014 I discovered Indigena skincare from Newfoundland. Many of their products contain indigenous plants from the land and sea. I liked the products so much that I have started to carry them for my patients and on my online shop (I am a homeopath and Bowen practitioner). As my patients are focussed on getting healthy, having a natural, healthy skincare line was a very good fit for my business.
I hope you will give Indigena skincare a look!
    Warmly,
    Meryl

  • Jill says:

I think many companies are coming on board with using only safe, pure & organic products for our skin… for me being with NYR Organic I so believe they have been an influence to many on how a company (over 34 years now in the UK) can be as green as possible and supply people with good effective products for their skin. I am happy to know that so many are awakening to using real natural ingredients, that not only is good for our skin, but for good of the place we call home, earth. 🙂

    • Green Beauty Team says:

Wow! That’s really wonderful to know, Jill. Thank you so much for sharing that about NYR and your love for our earth.

  • Carolyn Swofford says:

I’ve been using Carina Organics hair care products.
